Bats are a symbol of good luck and happiness in Chinese culture, and are often featured during Chinese New Year. It's a Chinese traditional auspicious pattern. The pronunciation and tone of "Bat" is same as "luck" in Chinese. Bat becomes an auspicious symbol of good luck or happiness.
